Z400 fuel valve-HELP
I went riding the other day and accidentally put the fuel valve on the prime position, for maybe 30-40 minutes. Then I look it the manual and it said "The carburator may overflow and fuel may run into the engine. This can cause a fire or severe damage to the ATV when you start the engine". It was running and starting fine for this time, but did I do any damage to anything, would it be necessary to drop any fluids?? Thanks for any help.

If something went wacko and the carb flooded the engine, the oil level would be higher than nomal and would smell like fuel. Pull the dipstick out of the oil tank and put a drop or two of the oil on a piece of metal and try to light it, if it lights and burns it has fuel in it, change the oil and filter and don't leave the petcock in prime again, if not don't worry. It would take a malfunction to fill the oil with fuel, like a stuck float!!

The PRIME position on a Suzuki is just like the ON position on any other bike. For some reason (liability!!) , Suzuki is real **** about this. For riding, you are just fine on prime. If you transported the bike in the prime position, then you may need to be concerned. Lots of people replace their Suzuki vacume operated valves with manual ones ( I am doing this myself right now), because they have a reputation for failure.
