Default LTZ400 Maintainance

For the owners out there that have had them for a while, is this somthing I will half to tinker with, or can I just wash it until I ride again? What about brake in time, does anybody actualy keep it below half throtle for the first 10-20 hrs.?

i change my oil after every 2 rides or 2 races/practices on the mx track, probably a little overkill considering i have a freind who has had his since june and has only changed the oil once! and his is fully built with 440 and porting. the biggest problem i have experienced is, every fender mount/battery mount bolt has loosened up or fallen out. tighten them down after you get it. it was a shock to me since just about every other part on the bike has been thoroughly soaked in loc tite making it impossible to get some allen heads out without an easy out. as for break in, run a tank of gas through it going all through out the powerband towards the end, then give it hell....i think i made it maybe 1/2 gallon before i started racing my bike.

Breakin is really important! No more than half throtle for the first 10 hrs, then real easy riding (occasionally over half throtle) for the next 10 hrs. Change oil and filter after about the first 5 hrs. I start out doing SHORT RIDES (like 10 min), then you can increase the riding times as you get more hours on the engine. I ALWAYS LET THE ENGINE COOL COMPLETELY BETWEEN EACH RIDE!!

All you need to do is routine maintenance. Here in the desert, everything gets dirty quicker, so the intervals need to be frequent: Air filter (check it every ride), oil and filter (I probably change every 10-20 hrs, or sooner if it looks dirty), spark plug (they are cheap, so I replace at every oil change), clean and lube chain (with chain wax) every ~5 hrs and adjust when necessary. And, valve adjustments every ~50 hrs.

When I bought my KFX today the dealer told me to bring it back for it's first maintainance after 20hrs of riding...He said the vavles would need to be adjusted?? Other than that I can do the rest on my own.

What about lubing pivot points, I dont see any zurk fittings, so I was wondering should these come apart often? And when they are apart, should I drill for zurk fitting?
Those that have the after market arms, how do the heim joints hold up, I have used them on race trucks, and they have to be replaced often.
