I have a KX500 motocross bike lying around that has been wrecked and the enginge and carb and Exhaust are good. If I stick the Engine in my 87 Lt250r will i be sorry. Is it to much engine for the frame or anything. Also will it vibrate to much. Thanks for any help you can provide.

 

I don't anything on a project like that but I've heard that the vibrations would be harsh.
Hopefully someone will help you more than me with some ideas and info on the project

Hey bowman-I know of one such man who did such a conversion. He wishes he kept the thing instead of getting a new quad! Apparently the engine just bolts right in. The only thing you need to fab-up are the front motor mounts. The pipe works and everything! This guy wants to do another one, so if you want to sell your KX please let me know! By the way, the guy does the complete swap in about 3 hours or less! The thing also rips in a serious way.

 

to much trouble if u ask me....the lt rs rip nicely with there stock motors but hey if u have the money and time then do it especially if it bolts right in

 

O.k, now that i know that the Kx Motor will fit in it pretty easy. Now what about the Vibrations. Will i have to make special braces for the frame to stand up to the bigger motor. Or Don't I need to worry about that. Thanks for any help.

 

You should be able to fabricate a rubber mount. Thick washer - hard rubber -thick washer. Won't be "vibration proof" but should help out quite a bit. With that much motor you probably won't need to be wound out all the time anyway.

 

I have an 85 tecate motor which is the same as a KX 250 motor anyone know of anything that will fit into fairly easy? Blaster would be fun????????

 

i have a 85 tecate motor in a blaster . im in the process of rebuilding it right now.it mount ok but the pipe doesnt fit right. i had to have one custom made.

 

I have a '85 lt with a rm 250 motor and the people before didn't do the front motor mount right and there were a lot of vibrations and cracked the frame. I'm now putting a polyurethane tranny tranny mount to hopefully get rid of the vibrations. Hope that might help.

 

first off jsut sell the kx500 motor or trade for a cr500 motor or lt500r motor. dotn wast time w/ a kawi motor. its a suzuki its suppose to last, j/k i aint a kawi fan and puttin a kaw in a suzuki frame is wrong in my opinion. the whole allaiance was wrogn in my opinion 2. but w.e i guess. it would be kewl but i would look for a cr500 motor. mayb. or a raptor motor
