Default z400's power...what are your thoughts?

hey....just give your opinions on the Z400's power. Does it have a good low, mid,or top end or is it bad. What improvements do you think should be made. What modifications bring out the most power. Just write what you want about the engine.

I think its mid and top end needs some improvement, then it will be able to compete against the raptor in drags. It has an excellent low end. It doesn't have any problem lifting the front end up. It also has alot of useable power and reacts well to modifications.

Low end is WAY LAME on the stock bike, making it a less that ideal trail ride (in terms of power, not in terms of handling). The flywheel is light. It doesn't maintain its rpm very well, and doesn't lug down at all. A pipe, header, and K&N are a great help. Look at all the pipe shootouts that are in the magazines right now, and the best gains are on the BOTTOM END, where they are most needed.

The mid to high range are pretty reasonable. The bike likes to be ridden revved out, but you can get a lot of wheel spin (just wasted power) if you aren't carefull. Max torque is around 6,000 rpm, and this is where the engine does its best work.

I think it has a nice wide power band and could use a bit more up top. i added a slip on and 13T and the thing just pulls hard out of the hole. Intake cam will be here this week to make it SCREAM on top.

Seems to have plenty of beans for the Sand Dunes in Ca. Just had to ride it a gear lower than I thought was right. Plenty of mid range power, just took me a few hours to learn what gear to be in.
