I recently purchased an 1990 LT500 still running strong on the original engine (no rebuild). The guy that I bought it from took very good care of it and his wife was the only one who rode it (all of 40 hours on it). He only ran Maxima Super-M 2-stroke oil and told me to do the same. I run Maxima Castor 927 in my LT-250 and now have the dilemma of deciding what oil to use. I have heard that you can't mix the oils once you have used a castor based oil. For now I am just going to run the Super-M in the LT500 and the 927 in the LT250 until I can be sure it is ok to switch one or the other. Anyone got any insight on this?

 

All they mean by not mixing is that if you're going to change, just make sure your gas tank, fuel line and carb are empty from the previous mix...if not the 2 could turn to a jell and make your engine run lean. Although I've yet to see this but...better safe than sorry !!!!!! Also if you change you might have to re-jett
