Default Cam installation

Hello I am new to the boards and i was wondering how hard would it be to install an intake cam from Hot Cams on my Z400. Has anyone done this and how much of a difference did it make in performance?

Default Cam installation

I just helped my freind install cams in his Z400. It's pretty easy. I would get a service manual it explains stuff like that pretty well. It will make a big difference in performance. I would get a pipe and filter first before a cam

My instructions are: Remove all of the front plastic, gas tank so you can see and reach the top of the engine easily, once you have all of the front plastic off, spray your engine down with degreser and hose it off you don't have to do this but if it's dirty or has mud on it you should because once you get internally and open up your engine dirf will fall in, you don't want that stuff in there. Next remove the valve cover and you will see the cams when you get it off. Take the Cam-chain tentioner off it's mounted on the lower right hand side of the cylinder, now the cam-chain is loose you can take the caps off of the cams and slide them out and it's as simple as reversing the steps above when re-instaling. You have to get your timing right a manual explains that, use assembly lube on the cam lobes. and use plastic bags, keep things organised and take breaks in between it helps.

Yes it has Pics very good detail, it has all the torque specs too. OH I see you already have a pipe and filter/jets, cam would probably be the next thing on my list

It's simple. Did mine laast week and I love the power gain. Great top end.
The steps are above and get a manual from Abla for $30. Took me about 1.5 hours first time in there.
