what is the best way to get all you can out of the 500 i want to be able to run with the top dog banshees. Anybody have any wild 500 motors out there and if so what all is done to them. I have a pretty much basic motor. It is a 87 cylinder at stock bore and stock ports. I have a KN clamp on filter and that is about it.

Jeremy, I will give you a run down of my setup. 1987 LT500, bored ".060, Weisco Pro-lite piston, wild port job done by HRS in Sapulpa, OK, turbo mod on crank, cases ported, turbo mod on head, head shaved, boyesen reeds, 41 PWK carb., Cobra Pro series pipe (not sure about the pipes performance, but seems to be a top end pipe-bike NEVER quits pulling). I run stock gearing on my bike and 21x12x8 Padla Brats with almost nothing cut off of them (still have 18 paddles). When I can launch the bike, it will outrun all but the Drag piped, alcohol burning, aftermarket frame bikes. And, you can still trail ride and shoot the hills. With a 44mm carb and a Trinity or LRD pipe, my bike would FLY! For comparision's sake, my dad's bike has excellent port work, 41mm carb, FMF pipe and silencer and I can leave him by a few bike lengths.
BTW, we are going to Sahara on the 22nd of this month, you should come down!

i am thinking about coming down that weekend but i have not totally decided yet. i am still throwing up the idea of selling the 500 there is just that point when you have way too much invested in it. who is HRS? What is the turbo mod on the crank and head that you are talking about. you know how much a 44mm carb costs? Also have you seen very many alky 500s run?

Zilla Rider. Id like to see that, but at least with the 500's ive ever seen (many at Glamis) I doubt I ever will... The only time ive ever see a Zilla be competitive with a top dawg banshee is by installing an 1100 cc GSXR motor(punched to 1300) in the Zilla frame. Then youve ogt a chance..

Poor Roostking, someday he will understand. Maybe he will when he gets spanked by a 15 year old quad! Anyway, Jeremy the best way I can describe the turbo mods is to go to Trinity.com and look at their pictures of these mods. HRS is Hagan Racing Services. Not sure if they are still in business or not. A 44mm carb kit from Trinity with velocity tube, cable, etc can be had for around $240 or so. Haven't seen an alcohol Zilla run yet. Have thought about converting my over though. Roost, when are you coming to Oklahoma?

The only way I found to make my LT fun was to put in triple exhaust ports, nicasil bore, rotax type powervalve and build a pipe that actually works. The only banshee that will hand it to me is my friends with Yamaha V-max 4 cylinders.

No, I'm not saying anything like that. Although, I wish I could go to Pikes Peak with my LT and Banshee\V-Max. I'd like to be part of the dyno shootout they have there. Everyone talks about how fast there bolt on goodies are. I've had my LT for 11 years and tryed alot of them. I'm just saying what I did to make mine fun. That's all.
