Default Changing oil, some questions.

First time changing the oil on the Z400. First question where is the oil filter located? Second question whats the recommended amount of oil that goes in. I picked up 3 quarts and a new Suzuki filter. Hopefully someone can answer these and save me some time this evening. I need to pick up a manual soon I guess.

Thanks,
Jeff

Default Changing oil, some questions.

2 Liters of oil is right, a little more than 2 Quarts, drain both the crankcase and the oil tank, 2 drainplugs!
The oil filter is on the side of the motor, If I remember right, About 5 small bolts, and the cover comes off.
After you fill it up you need to run it for a few minutes so the oil gets sucked out of the tank into the motor.
It's a dry sump motor, so if it sits for awhile the tank can read low, but oil has drained back into the motor.
Always run the motor for a few minutes before you check level. Also DO NOT run the motor with the oil tank plug out, Heck of a mess. Yes I did that once on a XR650, the tank is in frame and you fill it up next to the triple clamp, blew oil all over the bike and me.
