Hey donZilla, you might wanna re-do your top speed run.
among my zilla, I also ride a 1997 Kawasaki ZX-7R. (somewhat modded, 750cc)
I know what 120 feels like. (I also know what 150 feels like haha)

BIG difference in 90 mph, and 120 on a bike (or quad) in seat of the pants. 90 feels fast, 120 feels... REALLY fast.

I don't feel that 120 is that un-realistic for the zilla with some mods. The "pre-production" model was clocked at over 100 MPH. It was decided this was too fast for the average consumer, so back to the drawing board it went for more restrictions. Having owned a zilla myself, I know how fast they can be. Mine was stock, but I have ridden one that was "BUILT" and if that machine wouldn't do 100 MPH...!!!!

Donzilla, that must have been awesome running that fast. Even if it wasn't 120, anything close is fast enough. I have a friend that rides so ***** out that he even scares me from time to time. He bought a zilla a couple years ago. I don't remember what all mods were done, but it was bad. He kept it less than a year. He, the "fearless one", was even afraid of it. From what I have heard and seen of the zillas, I think they are probably the fastest quad ever made, or at least in the top 2 or 3.

There is quite a difference between 100mph and 120 mph, and with the mods that he listed, and the gearing, it just aint gonna happen. This is a matter of simple math. Im not going to dispute that a properly geared Zilla wont hit a hundred, but a Zilla with 14/40 gearing WILL NOT HIT 120. And just exactly how much gearing do you hope to gain by inflating the hell out of a tire?? A 20in tire is only going to grow so much with the addition of extra air. Perhaps some of those scars you suffered were to your head.

any bike can be geared to go 100 mph. Lets be honest though, whats a better rush going 0-60 in under 4 seconds, or 0-100 in 15 seconds?

Well, I have a bike that does 60 in about 3 seconds, and 100 in about 6 seconds...... but its made for the street.
Talk about fun, though!

I know mine is pretty doggone fast. I have never topped it out yet, but I have hit 94 with it. I had somebody clock it for me. Mine isn't stock though. I also know that Donzilla's quad was built by LRD and makes 76hp at the rear wheels... I have never had mine dynoed, but mine has a CT kit in it .140 overbore which is like a 550 kit...

Now the guy on here that goes by Quadzilla 1000, his quad is pushing right at 235hp with the nitrous...

Ok, lets apply a little math to this discussion and cut out most of the seat of the pants BS. Well, maybe a little BS to start... My new 89 Zilla with a pipe and rejet, no airbox lid etc.. was clocked by radar @ 89 mph. My current ride feels a little faster but has not be clocked.
Zillarider02's 87 Zilla has been heavily modded, still runs stock drive ratio,13-42, 3.23 ratio, high gear in the 87 tranny is 0.863 (overdrive) for a final ratio of 2.78, he passed a Chevy truck that was at the shutdown point on the speed limiter (108mph) like it was a stittin still. How is is this possible you ask? Lets look at some numbers (facts). With a 21" diameter tire, final drive ratio of 2.78 in 5th, 4804 rpm would produce 108 mph, 5338 rpm would produce 120 mph. All you need is the horsepower to pull the RPM. My dyno program tells me 75.1 net horsepower would produce 117 mph with a 400 pound bike, 200lb rider. Under the same gearing & weight 41 net horsepower would produce 95mph.

So I don't doubt a 120 mph number from a Zilla and I've rode ZillaRider02's machine, its scary fast!<a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.idavette.net/tech/ratioc.htm" target=blank>
