I am in search of a motor builder (or 5) to give me a quote on the motor.
I wouldnt mind making it a real LT!!!!
the frame and other metal parts are done.
I need an exhaust system, plastic, swingarm, and other things.
I am at the early stages of bolting this thing back together.
thanks for the input

So what is everyone's opinion of the '85-'86 LT250R's??? I realize that the engine lacks a power valve and the transmissions lack sixth gear, but I'd like to hear some opinions of these machines performance and reliability...Thanks. (maybe I'm using the wrong thread for this)

they are OK if you want a cheap quad, but there isn't a lot you can do to them as far as beefing them up since they don't have a powervalve or a reed assembly like the other years have they also have really small ports and parts aren't as readily available for them. The motors like all the other Suzuki LTs are fairly simple to work on and build. I can totally rebuild one of these (splitting the cases) in about 2 hours if I really need to.

I actually prefer riding to wrenching or welding, but my '87 Quadzilla was a maintenance nightmare. The quad had to have at least three things wrong with it at any given time. If you fixed one of the problems, then something else went wrong. If cylinders weren't so damn expensive, I probably wouldn't have fixed it.
Bing, how about an update on your LT250R project?????

BTW I had some extra cylinders at one time.... For the LT500 and for the 250..... around here I am the person everybody comes to for parts - even the local bike shops call me and ask for stuff....

DirtGirl,
Thanks for the info, maybe I'll need some Suzuki parts down the road. But thanks to eBay, I dumped my entire Quadzilla collection in one big auction. I was tired of messing with it...Quadzilla's place too many demands on time, tools, and most of all...money. This year's Veteran's Class National Hillclimb Champ bought my running '87 Quadzilla, three complete engines, extra Quadzilla parts bike, and my entire collection of miscellaneous parts. Maybe I'll get another 'Zilla down the road...I kinda doubt it. I'd rather stuff a CR500 engine into a 250R/400EX frame if I want a 500cc two-stroker. Take care...

Nice to meet you people. I have one of the fastest 87 lt250r around. If you want a fast one FTZ racing doestn't screw around. I have there port job with a 1986 yz250 piston. 240lbs. cranking compression, the super fat FTZ pipe, 39mm keihen carb and the expensive FTZ ignition. I never knew how much of a diference a performance ignition would make until I tried there's. I also have a banshee done up from them that is a unbelieveable rush. These guys no there stuff. I have had a LRD, CT FMF, PSI and a trinity pipe on my machine and none of them performed like the FTZ PIPE. They have the best 250 pipe money can buy period.
