Default Best dunes to ride

I live in New York State and my buddies and I are planning on a trip to the dunes. We don't really want to travel to Glamis or Oregon. Where's the best dunes within 2 days of New York? And what are we going to want to do to our bikes to make them dune worthy?

There's silver lake in michigan.

Dune ready? Take your airbox lid off, rejet, adjust needle, gear down and possibly get some paddle tires. You're going to need to generate as much power as possible.

You may get better reponses in the duning forum but... There are close dunes and there are good dunes. I would say the closest good dunes are St. Anthony, ID. If you're going to dune then DUNE... St. Anthony makes everything esle look like a kids sandbox. Check my site for some different ares around here.

For a REAL dune place you almost certainly need paddles if you want to get up the hills and you will need to rejet for the altitude. St. Anthony is 5000 feet.

Hey Wyo, did you say you would, or wouldn't be able to make it to St. Anthony this June?
