fuel cut off / reserve tank ???????????
#1
Last weekend while riding , my KFX started shuting down or stalling out , if I down shifted it still would not start , once I stopped
it crank and not start , the fuel looks to be at a 1/4 tank . It would only start and run with the reserve on .
Is this normal , that you have to switch to reserve when you still have a 1/4 tank ??

Yes this is normal. Its an embarrasing story but... I couldnt' figure out why my quad wouldnt start, so i checked the tank and it looked like i had about 1/4th the tank left. So i ended up taking it to the shop. They put it in reserve, and it fired right up. He told me i was just out of gas. Needless to say I felt pretty stupid. So to answer your question; yes it looks like you have gas in it but you actually have to put it in reserve.

Cool , thanks for the info , I was ready to take it in to the shop . Its weird , everyone I ride with there tanks are almost bone dry before they switch to reserve .
Hay , what size jet kit are you running with your set up ? I have a 145 main and its back firing , I called CT and they told me to run a 155
that sounds a little big what do you think
Thanks again

Well do you have dynojets or mikuni? I can't tell by your signature, but a 155 main for mikuni sounds about right. I use a dynojet 140 in mine and it runs perfect. Im not sure what a dynojet 140 is equal to in mikuni though. Oh, I have the snorkle removed but the lid on. I was thinking about taking the lid off and rejetting, but I'm not sure what main jet to use....does anybody have any idea what dynojet i should run with that setup? (I live in Vegas so I don't have to worry about water, lol) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The reserve! It just seemed like common sense.

I just thougt it was alittle early in the ride to need to switch , when you look in the tank it seems
there is too much gas to switch to reserve..

Yep, I had the same problem with reserve, rode about 40 miles and she quit, Son's EX440 had plenty of gas, I looked in tank, I had plenty of gas. Switched to reserve and it ran fine!!

I did the same thing thing, it looks like a lot of gas left. Scared the crap out of me thought I blew it up or something. Anybody know how long you can run on reserve? I always try to fill it right away, but if your out aways your kinda screwed.
