blown lt250R ?
#1
hey everyone, this is my first post. yesterday i was riding my 85 lt250R with some friends across a wet field and i was in 3rd gear low to mid RPMs when it started sounding weird and then just stopped. i changed the plug, but still nothing. when i try to kick it over the kick feels really off. and difficult. anyways, my dad checked the oil from the side of the engine and said that he sees little specs of silver in it. we dont know what is wrong with it, can somone please tell me what u think it is ? and how much it will be to fix

Welcome to the forums! It's normal to see a little residue of silvery color in your oil when you change it due to clutch plate wear, etc. It sounds to me more like your quad seized up......sorry. Just take some time and pull your cylinder to see what happened. It doesn't take very long and it shouldn't cost more than $150 - $200 if you do it yourself. There are several places listed in the magazines that sell factory or aftermarket Suzuki parts.
Let us know what you find out.

Easy to kick over. sounds like the piston or rings got hurt. What is your comperssion, less then 100 psi then u have problems. If you do have to install new pistons and rings, the cylinder will likely need to be bored oversize. Dont go cheap and just install new pistons in a worn bore. It will wear the rings out very fast. When u go get this back together, dont forget to look into what caused the problem. When the engine is at idle take a bottle of carb clean and spray around gaskets and seals and your intake boot. I once had a cracked intake boot and replaced two pistons before catching it. DOES your spark plug have aluminum deposits on it,?????????
I would guess yes!!!!!!! That use to belong to the piston!!!!!!!!!!
