Default z400 carb problem ! PLEASE HELP

I have a problem wth the 4 screws on the bottom of the carb on a z400. We got one out and the others would budged without starting to strip. Has anyone else had this problem or are we the only ones? what do you do in this case ? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT, WE ARE SOS if we dont get it back together and running soon !!!

the factory liked to make those stupid brass little screws torqed at 50,000 lbs ....
Same prob here did you remove the idle adjuster yet or is that one the same way ?
I just went through bits and found the largest one that would completly fill the hole and then
push as hard as you can and then snug it and then loosen . once you get them out go to a hardware
store and replace the phillips screws with something easier to work with like 7mm's.

The stupid brass cover for the air screw sucks too

If you just rolled the carb you may have to remove it so you can really torque on it. I used the largest flat head that would fit and pushed down like a SOB on it. If they're stripped really bad you can cut a groove in the head and use a flathead or there is a tool for stripped heads that looks like a drill bit that will bite and back them out, can't think of the name of it. Good luck and keep us posted......

Default z400 carb problem ! PLEASE HELP

I hate the screw they put in all carbs, my raptor and my buddies z400 both had some of the screws strip. I went to home depot and for 2 bucks got allen head screw to replace the phillips head screws, no more stripping or stuck problems!!!!

What all did you do to it? Float stuck? Throttle cable correct? Choke? Recheck everything, make sure nothing is out of place.

Make sure the slide is not stuck and the spring is seated in the lid right as well as everything LTZevil400 mentioned.

Default z400 carb problem ! PLEASE HELP

well we got it. There was something wrong with the idle-screw that was making it not work so we took it downtown to the motorcycle dealer and a guy came out and helped us and got it. about a 5 min fix we were all stressed over. The thing runs perfect now. alot stronger, no popping or backfiring. Thanks again for your help guys.

PS about those *&^*ing like brass screws, we replaced them with little bolts.
