Fast4wrd,
A sprocket will get you the bottom end you want, but at the expense of top speed, unfortunatly there is no way around that. You would want to go down in the front or up in the back. One tooth on the front loosely equals 3 teeth on the rear. I dropped one on the front, I don't ever need to go 65mph, I would rather hold 3rd gear more in the dunes. Good Luck

I would go up one tooth in the back sprocket for a minimal loss in top speed compared to the 13 tooth front sprocket. If you also wanted to, you could buy the DRZ base gasket to raise your compression to 12.2:1 and thats only $25. The only problem would be the installation, but if you're good with motors you shouldn't have a problem. The last thing would be to gap your spark plug from .028 inches to .035 inches. Beleive it or not it does make a difference. Good luck

sandneck-how does the Z compare to the 440ex in terms of speed and quickness? My new neighbor that just moved in has a 440ex and he says it is about the same speed as a piped Z. I don't know but what do you think?

Stock is 40 so go to a 41, and you will not need to buy a new chain for this
