Default LT250R please help with fuel mix!!!!!!

Hey guys thanx alot for all your info, I really do appreciate it. Like some of you, I've also heard that Golden Spectro is a good mix to use. I have about 5 bottles of the marine synthetic by Pennzoil, it does have a pre-mix ratio on the back, and it also says that it "exceeds manufacturers wants" or something like that. Do you think I could use up the bottles I have? Thanks again all!!!

In ATV Sport mag, all around atv racing genius Mike Penland addressed this in his tuning column a few months ago. He basically said the better the oil, the smaller ratio you can run. The factory sticker on my '89 LT 250 R says 20-1, but it smokes like the frickin' Marlboro Man @ that mix. The problem with marine 2 stroke oil is that marine engines are cooled with fresh water from outside the engine, and run cooler than air or water cooled 2 stroke quad engines. Hope that helps.

I use Maxima Castor 927 @ 40:1. Good stuff. I also hear it adds octane or something good to your mix, so it can't hurt.

Amsoil is one of the best oils out there... here is a link for ya . oh and by the way, use the mix ratio recomended on the mix oil bottle. Amsoil series 2000 is 50/1 They also make a mix oil that is mixed 100/1 that tons of people swear by. AMSOIL

for what its worth,
you get power from gas, not oil
the outboard oils like said before rely on clean fresh cool water to cool the engine..a lot diffrent than a radiator that recycles the coolant, or air cooled..

for years I have run all my 2 stroke stuff on belray at 50:1, this included a 78 ktm 400, 82 Husky 430, jonsered chainsaws, husky chainsaws, echo & husky weedeaters, and 2 stroke tillers. I have had no problems with lack of lubrication, I also used it in my outboards as well.

I have known some who use golden spectro with good results as well, a good grade of oil will have a high film strength, and lubricate well..my opinion leans toward the synth oils..but each has their own preference.. if you change oil mix ratios, the jetting will change as well..

Hey guys, just wanted to say thanks one more time. I have a pretty good idea of what to run, I'm thinking about the Golden Spectro, I ran it before. The Amsolil is also sort of appealing. Anyway thanks again for all your help, I really do appreciate it.
