Someone correct me if I am wrong but I don't think there is any way to tell if you have the updated axle or not. I bought mine last August and don't think I have the updated one but I have yet to bend mine. Again, someone correct me if I am wrong but I think thats it.

This has been goin through my head fro a long time also. Was this detected on the KFX's too? Since the quad is really Suzuki's you would think that more of them would have been sold first. Thats why i ask if it was also a problem with the KFX's.

The quickest way would be to see if your axle is bent. If it is than you have the old one, if not you have the new one. LOL
You also need to check for cracks in the frame. No some people will say theirs isn't cracked. But check all the areas carefully. I have seen two with over 20 welds on them.

hey man whats going on Answer to your first question when the z400 first came out early 2002 look on the bottom of your frame it is usually there mine was from what i understand there was about 1.300 hundred that had the soft axels the problem was fixed when the kfx400 came out so you won't find a kawasaki with that problem and to find out for those of you who don't know if you got the bad axels or not go to your local track and go around about ten times i will bet you bent it but before you do that go buy a aftermarket one first so you can fix it as soon as possible you know what i mean later man
