Default lt125 runs rough

I have an 85 lt125 quad that has a rebuilt engine in it. It sat for a number of years with only about 15 min of run time on it due to a bad cdi box. I recently put a new cdi box on it and cleaned the carb and put a new primer on it and got it running. My problem is that it tends to run rough at partial throttle, and will idle really good for a while and then try to die when you go to take off (repeatedly). I put a new coil and plug in it, but the problem persists. I was wondering if the stator has any adjustment to it that may effect the run quality or if I should look at a total carb rebuild (anybody know of a kit) or maybe a combination of the two. Any theories or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Also, when I first started it up, after it hadn't run in about 10 years, the muffler had a lot of rusty dust blow out, which eventually cleared up. Could I have an excessive backpressure problem?
