It was you that started this whole 400EX vs Z400. You came looking for a fight in the Suzuki Forum, so don't be surprised by the reaction that you are getting.
You have what is known as an "Anomaly". Your Wife rides an above average 400EX, it's not unheard of. Congratulations, but it is the exception, Not the Rule.

I don't think the 400ex is better but I think that it isn't that far behind the z-400. I think that the z is a good bike but in my opinion its not twice as good as the 400ex and some of the people who have them think that the 400ex is old and slow when I've seen them side by side and its not that much faster. I think a above average rider can make up the differance 9 times out of 10. At frist I thought about selling my wifes bike and buying her a Z but once I saw them and rode a few I wasn't that impressed so we still have the 400ex. I just wanted to give a differant view on the Z vs EX.

Well the tires may have something to do with it. I have heard from many duners that those Geckos are absolute garbage!

HHHHHMMMMM , Geckos huh , well just to inform you , last weekend at Dumont my KFX smoked a 416 EX that had geckos and what did I have
on mine, well I just used my plan old Razr 2's and still smoked him , we ended up racing about 7 times and he only bet me once .
Now I know mine is not stock but ether was the EX .. Stock for stock the Z should smoke it every time
