smokin

tyrbeal used car dealerr's used something like this product in high mileage used car's that were smoking and burning oli , and it work's for awhile in automobile's ; it's very thick oil kind of like the old STP engine oli treatment ! I's as thick as honey and does coverup and slow down oil burning and cut's down on engine's that have just strated smoking ! It might be ok to use in your car or truck for awhile , but it's not the type of oil for motocycle's and atv's ; and would probablly do more harm to Bike's and quad's than good ! Most atv's and motocycle's use a wet sump ( engine and transmission's use the same oil to lubricate the engine's and transmission's ) , i wouldn't use it in an atv or motocycle ; in fack i wouldn't use it in an automobile ! Like i said in the mid 60' to late 60's i worked for several used car dealer's and they used all kind of oil addtrive's to cut down on oil consumption on high mileaged vehicle's to sell them fast and get them off their hand's A..S.A.P. Back then there were several product's thay used to doctor up used car's ! Just off the top of my head i will try to name a few , Engine Honey, Marvel Mystry oil , STP engine oil treatment ;and a dozen other of their on concoction's to make them sound and run great for a while but they didn't last long , the Engine Restore Product is probablly the best thing you could use in an autobile ! But i wouldn't use it in a Quad or motorcycle , here's something that might work in a quad it's called Seafoam , Seafoam is a fuel cleamer/stabilizer it will clean the entire fuel system and also the combustion chamber ! If it's a fuel related problem the Seafoam will clean carbon buildup in the combustin chamber that's build's up over time with dirty or bad gas ! One question do you put fuel in your quad straight from the gas pump all the time , or do you sometime's pour from a gas jug ? if you do from both the Seafoam could end your smoke/oilburning problem ! And another thing do you alway run yor quad completely out of gas before you store it for as long as a month or more between ride's ? If your answer to either of these question is yes then this could cure your problem ! Ther is one other thing that you can do to prtect your engine , install a clear fuel filter between your gas tank and carburor ; this will help strap any water dirt/tracsh from getting from the gas tank and into you Carb !

It goes like this.
All engines are built to and have clearance specifications. When any engine runs those specifications get bigger and bigger and bigger.
The only way to get them back to spec is a rebuild. Sure, you can get thick oil and other band-aid stuff like that, but that won't fix the problem. The only real way to fix the problem is a total rebuild.

I agree with you 100 percent Doctorturbo , there's is no such thing as engine retore or rebuild in a can period ! But the Seafoam product i menitioned in my first reply , isn't and doesn't claim to work mirical's like some of thiese product's i mention'ed in the first reply ; Seafoam is a fuel cleaner/stabilzer that will clean out your entire fuel system of carbon build up around your, valve's valve stem's , valve seat's , piston and ring's and the entire cumbustion chamber ! If their were any product taht i would call a mircle in a can this would be it , What's that sloagan for for coca cola ? It's the real thing ! And i have have been in in the Small Engine Service and Repair Industry for over 20 year's , the last 6 year's as a Factory Certified Small Engine Technician ; and i've never found anything come close to being as good for the fuel system than this stuff is and i would stake my reputation on it ! How i used a fuel stablizer for about 8 year's that was call Stabil you coud buy it at walmart , Kmart , Sear's and most auto parts stores ! i used the keep gas fresh for as long as 5 to 6 month's between fall and spring , and i was a little skeptical the first time i used it ; i alway's had two different jug's of gas with as much as half full at the end of summer and i would put enough gas in the mower's , atv's and chain saw's and line trimmer's the first year just as a test to see if it worked as good as the company who made the stuff claimed it was ! and i would run the engine's ljust long enough for the untreated fuel to burn from the tank and the new treated started burning through the engine ! And the Stabil was left in the jug's untill the following spring for the grass mowing season to start again ! Now on the Instruction's on the can called for you to pour out the old gas and refill them with new fuel before you started using the machine's again , because the Stabil was only suspose to keep the old fuel from going bad and gumming up the carburator's so you wouldn't have to take them to a repair shop to have the fuel system's cleaned out before you could start using them again ! But i smelled the gas from the jug's and it still smelled fresh , so i went from one engine to the other untill had gotten to the last one ; and they all smelled of fresh fuel ! So instead of pouring out all the old fuel i started cranking them one at a time , and to my surprise everyone started and ran as good as the day i stored them ! So all i had to do to get them ready for the mowing and gardening season was to sharpen blade's and change the oil and clean the air filter's and they where ready to go to work ! I wouldn't have beleived it if i hadn't done it myself ! The Stabil work's for both 2 and 4 cycle engine's , so i used it untill my brother bought an old boat and motor taht had been sitting up for almost 2 year's with old gas in it without any kind of fuel treatment in the motor or the two 5 gallon tank's of old dead gas in them , the old fuel line with the rubber primer bulb'swere stiff and you could smell that the gas had that funky dead smell ; that is unmisstakable odor ! When he told me about it and asked me if i would get it going for him i reluctently said i would , but i really hated to even think about starting the job ; i kept trying to think up reason's to delay starting on it with a oassion ! I guess he sensed how much i was dreading the job so bad that he came to the forums to ask for some help on getting it fixed , and it was on one of these forums that he was introduced to Seafoam for the first time ; when he first told me about it i thought he had been used as an early april fools day joke ! I mean here i was told that this stuff was something that poor ole jack in the story of the bean stalk ; and that he had fallen for it hook line and stinker ! But he bought a can of the Seafoam for like $4.99 + tax for a 12 oz can of Miricle grow ! I didn't beleive it would do anything burn up $4.99 + tax , no way could it get this engine going without taking off the carburator and gunk it out with Berrymans Chemdip and intall a kit in the carb ; buy a new fuel line and a new gas tank to ever get this thing runnig again ! But he poured out the old gas from the two 5 gallon can's, pour some Seafoam in the gelled up fuel line ; mixed up a fresh can of gas in one of the old five gallon can's using 2 bottle's of my special NO SMOKE 2 STROKE oil that i've used for over 15 year's in My Small Engine Repair Shop now this is some great 2 stroke oil one bottle to one gallon of gas and you can run this fuel mix in anything requiring a two stroke fuel mix from - 16:1 all the way to 50:1 mix This stuff is the best 2 cycle Oil i have ever found for my shop , no more having to keep 3 or 4 gas jug's of different 2 stroke mixed fuel and this is the best stuff on the market ! And the best part about it is there is only one ditributor who sell's it , and my customer's can only buy it from me ! Sorry back to the boat Dan poured a little mixed fuel in the engine it started right up and ran for a few second's and stalled out ; he did this about 2 more time's then he poured about 2 oz's of Seafoam straight into the carb and went inside the house and watched a movie ! He said he was susposed to wait about 30 minutes then come back and hook up the fuel line from the 5 gallon tank to the outboard engine and prime it with the with the mixed fuel in the 5 gallon can that was in the boat ! But he said he fell asleep watching the movie and didn't get up untill the next day. And when he woke up he remembered the boat and went outside and primed the motor with it choked and at half throddle ne pulled it once and it tried to start ! Then he primed it one more time and open the choke halfway and pulled it again and this time it started ; he let it run a few more second's and then opened the choke all the way i started giving it gas , and it ran perfect ; then he turned it off and waited a few minutes ! And this time it started without choking it and ran perfect untill he shut it down ! Well this story is a true story and that's why i started using the Seafoam ; Because it really work's and i've been using it myself eversince ! It does what it say's it will do and that is, it will clean out the entire fuel system It's a fuel cleaner/stabilizer and it will even clean out the combustion chamber also ! And i use it in all my engine's from my 2006 Arctic Cat 400 FIS Auto 4x4 My 400 Cat has the Suzuki 376cc engine with the Duramatic/Belt Driven Clutch , i've let it sit up sometime's a month between ride's , i just keep one of those floating type battery charger on it in between ride's and it's start's everytime ! The first can of Seafoam i bought it at O'Reillys Auto Parts Store , and it was only $4.99 + tax ; but i bought a can 2 or 3 day's ago and just like gas it had gone up to $5.99 + tax I have a 1987 Chevy S10 Tahoe Longbed P/U with the 2.8 L V6 EFI and a 1988 S 15 Jimmy MPV with a 4.3 L V6 EFI and i use the Seafoam in everything i drive or ride , it work's in 2 and 4 Stroke Engine's ; and also in Desel fuel'ed motor's ! It;s high but everything i have run's fine on 87 Octane Fuel ! I know i rmbled on this reply but there's some good info here to look for ! ..............................
