Hope I can get some help on this. When the ignition is turned to on the oil temp light comes right on and the fan starts running. I pulled the thermister and it still runs. According to the manual the way to test the fan is to jump the wires where the thermister plugs in and the fan and temp light should come on. Well the fan is running and light is on even without thermister plugged in so no need to jump it. Thermister is reading proper OHMS at 75 Degrees - 91OHMS. The thermister wires run to the PCM which also controls the fan and overheat light. Is there a way to test PCM because they are expensive and non returnable. My guess is the PCM is telling the fan and temp light to come on without being told to do so. I was wondering if anyone on here has encountered this and knows FOR SURE what to do. I am already guessing so hoping to get a definitive answer. Thanks Rod

 

I read on here and was told by a mechanic that the fan was supposed to come on when the thermister is unplugged and thats how you know the fan and light are good. But the manual says you have to jump the wires to get it to come on. So needless to say that confuses me. Are the manuals noted to be wrong on occasion? Does some one out there have an 03 Trail Boss that could unhook the thermister and see if there fan comes on or if they have to jump it to get it to come on. Only an 03 because for some reason maybe thats the only year it works that way. I don't know. I need this to be ready for hunting Saturday. Thanks Rod
