winter startup tips
It helps to know which quad youre talking about.
Some have auto chokes, some have primers and some have heaters.
Before the weather turns cold, is a good time to prep for winter. Clean and reoil the air filter, change to a lighter weight oil, and put in a new spark plug.
On some quads, like the honda utes, pull the primer **** a couple of times, pull the choke on, and it fires right up.
If the quad is reluctant to start, then some can be started by bump starting, which is the easiest on the motor and battery.
Since CV carbs came onto the scene, chokes have disappeared, and been replaced by enrichener circuits. Real chokes work much better for starting in the cold, but if you hold a mitten over the snorkle, of the air box, that will act like a choke, and make the motor easier to start. Some quads are easier to do than others, and some cant be choked off by a mitten.
If these dont help, then you probably have a partially plugged, pilot jet, or the intake valves need adjusting..which are the 2 major causes of no start.
