I have a 2003 z400 and ive been trying to get it all back in time and ive been at it for like a week and stuffs not going right its got good spark but not in time i just need to see some pics or something. im lining up the line beside the T on the flywheel and lining the cams up even with the head and 2 and 3 are straight up and theres 14-15 pins in the timing chain im starting to think that i got the cams in the wrong side if anyone has any pics on that or info on it i could really use the help thanks my email is marktrivelpiece@yahoo.com

i think the crank has two rotations to every one cam rotation. just make sure your piston is at TDC (top dead center). take the plug out and make sure the piston is up, if your not sure hold your finger on the plug hole and rotate the engine until you feel the compression. as soon as you feel the compression then line the T mark up. sorry if this didn't help. i have no pics. but i do have a lot of time under the valve cover of an 04 Z400.

 

Put a new DID chain in mine lot long ago...
Should be 15 pins

 

not with hot cams, i want you to check in to this but i think the pin count is different with hot cams
