Default Vacuun hose coming off front of engine

Got a hose coming off the front of the engine - defnitely blowing air runs close to carb - has protective piece to run over exhaust - I'm assuming it's a vacuum and I trying to find a petcock to connect to but I'm kind of lost here. Any ideas appreciated.

Can't really tell from the photos, but I wonder if the hose is a crankcase vent?

Typically there will be some plumbing to route blowby gasses from the crankcase into the air box...

If there is a place there to hook it up, then I'd assume that's where it belongs.

You might want to put a clamp or zip tie or whatever on it, since you wouldn't want it coming off and letting dirt and grit into the motor...
