Default submerged 2008 brute force 750

I recently was riding in the edge of a pond when, I went into a big hole. I had to get off the atv and attempted to keep it cranked but it died. I was able to get it out and immediately pulled the oil plug and plug to the belt. both full of water. I then pulled off the air box lid, it was full of water. I turtne the quad on its back and let all the water run out of the exhaust. we then took it to the truck and pulled the plugs and turned the motor over. I then went through several oil changes until the oil was clean. put new oil filter on and rung out air filter. at this point we cranked it and it is not smoking or anyhting rides fine. I was just wondering if there are any other fluids I should change since the bike turned upside down in the water. the fluid in the handle bar resivoir looks clean but I just need to know if there may be something I missed.

I'm not familiar with your ATV so I don't know what it has. If it has them you need to check the transmission and hubs, gearboxes, or differentials. Check the radiator. You don't want mud in it.

Hey man, I did the exact same thing yesterday. I also did the exact sam thing you did after it was submerged. Mine was water locked and I wasn't able to unlock it until I pulled the plugs and drained the crank case. Mine was submerged for 20 minutes, under water. I finally got it out and had my atv running a few hours later. It's a bad feeling especially when it's not but a few months old. I ride a 2008 Brute Force 650i.

Force 1, make sure you drain your front and rear diff's, mine were full of water.

Will do, I was thinking about that as well but didn't change the front and back difs. When I do ride we normally ride in creeks and rivers a lot. Are you saying that whenever I ride in water I should change the oil in the difs? If so, I didn't know that? Thanks for the advice I will change the oil asap. Thanks again!!

I wouldn't say everytime, but I would keep a check on them if you ride in pretty deep water. They have vent tubes that will suck water in if it gets to them, not sure where they are located but I know seveeral people who have Honda's and have moved their's up to the handle bars. make sure you look in the owners manual to determine what oil to use and how to change the oil. I would say you have water in your's if it was submerged that long. Did you change the oil several times until it ran clear. I poured kerosine in the diffs, after I dreained them and shook the atv to slosh it around. I was told that it helps dry out the water. I would also put some type of water remover in the gas if you didn't drain all the gas out. sea foam from wal-mart works good I am told.

Yes, I did several oil and filter changes(actually changed the filter only once) until the oil was clean and water free. I did add an additive to dry the moisture from the crank. I appreciate your help with this, thank you! Force1
