Do I run rich or lean?
#1
Below is the picture of my new spark plug after 20 min. fast driving. Does the bike run rich or lean? I have learnt that black color is sign of rich and white (or light gray) of lean. I can see both colors. What should I see? The electrode (light) or the thread (black)?

plugs to new to sorta tell , except for the black on the plug.
idd have to say it to rich due to the black sooty look on the plug.
black : to rich or oil problems
White with grey ash : to lean
White or blue tint : running to hot , or wrong heat range plug.
tan color : normal
bent or broken plug : damage in cylinder
NGK Heat range Plugs Example{s}
br9es : Cold Plug
Br8es : Cool Plug
Br7es : warm Plug
Br6es : hot Plug
NGK :the lower the number the hotter the plug.
NGK Plugs that have a "R" on them means Resistors, Like a fuse.
on champon or boshe : The Higher the Number the Hotter the Plug.
hope that helps

Thank you. But since then I asked some other friends and all of them told me that I run lean. They told me, that I should see the color of the electrode. And it is in my case light grey.

I always thought you were suppossed to look at the INSULATOR, the porcelien part AROUND the center electrode. If I'm right then a white insulator like in the picture means it's WAY too lean. "R", resistor plugs aren't suppossed to interfere with radios and such.
