Purchased a Merkat 05 , 50cc from a Craigslist seller. Unit had bad battery, replaced with new. Had strange voltage draw on red wire from battery to ignition. Replaced ignition, and since then, all other electrical plug-in type parts and components except the wiring harness. Still getting no spark. Even replaced the coil with new. Kill switch on rear was broke so I bypassed it and still no luck, no spark. Does anyone have a REAL wiring diagram for this chineese piece of ...?

Or any help at all. Engine cranks but with no spark. It's got to be a kill switch issue or a small wiring problem. Oh yeah, we also replaced the stator, or is it the magnito, on the left side of the engine after it melted by cranking too long, that was actually the first repair made to the thing.

Oh, yes, it did run but once the new battery went in and the stator or magnito was replaced, it never ran again.

 

I am having the same problem with a 50cc ATV we purchased for our son. We are not able to get a spark. It did start a couple of times but that was it. We have tried to replace the CDI unit. I am so frustrated and disappointed with this thing.

I know how you feel. I'm thinking of re-listing the thing as a project for someone at a deep price reduction, just so I don't have to look at it and buy more parts.

 

I've had the same issue with my Meerkat. Paardema, IM me your email address and I will send you a wiring diagram for it. I would check both saftey shut off switches and if that don't work it is more than likely the cdi. Any more questions and I'll try to help you out to narrow it down.
