does air temp affect oil

Default does air temp affect oil

i was wondering if i should run 10w 40 instead of 10w 30 because i ride in south west florida and it is hot as *****!! i have heard that heat breaks down oil.

I live in Canada and I use 10w40 in the summer. I don't think that the oil breaks down but it does get thin.

Yeah, you should always get thicker oil for summer, thinner oil for winter.. that is, if it's not a horrible hassle. And that also depends on your climate conditions.
