How I Fixed Bunching of Chafe Protector Strap on Warn Winch
#1
The chafing protector strap that came on my new Warn winch got bunched up onto the drum every time I spooled in the line. I ended up taking the strap off and cutting it length-wise with the intention of using Velcro to simply attach it back onto the synthetic line when I need it.
However, today I came up with a better solution. I took the hook off the end of the line and slid a piece of 1" nylon tubular webbing onto it and winched the line back onto the spool. The webbing is made flat, so it slid right onto the spool with little effort and no bunching.
However, after unspooling it several times, I found that it's best to use my fingers to pinch the webbing to the line so that they both comes off the spool together.
Much better than the factory-supplied protector!!!
