ok guys/gals my boy bought a 400ex no manual so now i need some info. can you tell me HOW to adjust the rear shock [are the 2 nuts the adj. an 1 a jam nut we tryed to turn them 1 at a time but NO LUCK ????

my 2nd question is HOW do you adjust the slack in the chain ???



3rd an final ?? shoed it have had a brake light?? there is NO swich on the front master cyl. nor is there one on the rear foot brake?? but yet a spot on the rear frame where it looks as if there was 1 at some point???

1st- u have to back the top nut (jam nut) off of the buttom one first in order to adjust it.

2nd- the swing arm has 4 allen bolt at the very back, loosen them all up (dont take then out, that just wastes time), and right next to the sprocket hub is the bearing carrier, it has spots in it where u can put a screwdriver/punch in it to turn it, and thats how u adjust the chain. twist it backwards to tighten, forwards to loosen, then retighten the 4 allen bolts.

3rd- the '02s didnt have a brake light, just a tail light, meaning it was only on when the headlights were on. they finally put brake lights on them in '05.
