Default Warn A2000 on 2000 yamaha big bear 400

just got this four wheeler, and have been going through fixing everything.

Now for the winch, hit the switch and nothing. Checked that it is engaged, it is, and still nothing. Has a stock frame mounted butterfly in/out switch - disassembled, cleaned all connections and re-assembled and still nothing.

The wiring seems like a simple setup, neg and pos straigt from battery to switch, then two wires to the winch, marks on the winch are 1 and 2.

I've heard mention of a solenoid, but there isnt one here.

My question is, can I run a pos and neg straight to the motor on winch, and does anyone know which connection is which?

Thanks in advance.

You can run the positive and negative straight from the battery to winch motor.

it took whe winch off the bike.
I tried running positive from bat to winch and nothing.
I took the motor apart, cleaned all contact points put all back together, and still nothing. Any threads anyone knows of to trouble shoot this would be appreciated.
Model is a2000.
