98 Warrior won't fire
#1
Hello, I have been reading a lot of post on here and seems like you all know your stuff. So here we go. I have a 98 yamaha warrior that has a new stator, battery, starter. Has good spark but just won't start. I have been wrenching and ordering parts but I am sure it is something silly but I can't figure it out. My cousin told me to check the key stock on the fly wheel. Said that will throw off the timing if that is bent. Is there truth to that? I can't get to it because I don't have metric allen key. So before I go buy a set I thought I would see if that was a possiblity. Thanks for any help in advance!!

compression fuel spark if you have spark and fuel check for compression could be something as simple as a valve adjustment if a valve doesn't have any lash it may be open just a bit letting all of your compression go out the exhaust or back through the carb

I have good compression. My timing is off about 1/8th inch from valve cover to the fly wheel. I loosened the two 8mm bolts but I can't spin the one without spinning the other. It has always been hard to start. I think that was my issue all along then I lost spark. Replaced stator and now won't fire up. So thinking its my timing. But since I can't adjust my timing do you think that key way is bent? I just ordered a flywheel puller.
