Default Squeaky rear shock

Hey I went riding today and before I left (To goto the trails) my rear shock on my Yamaha Warrior 350 (2003) was squeaking pretty loud and got worse though out the day it doesnt change anything just ANNOYS ME SO MUCH... anyways I want to just lube it but I dont know what to use??? thinking of WD-40 or Chain lube.. But I dont know if its bad for the shock to use the wrong lube..Tell me what you think
