after reading a bunch of LYNNEDWARDS' posts, the electrical genius
, you'll need to trace the wires and see if any of the wiring around the battery/solenoid/starter area are fused together. you'll probably need to measure the voltage with a multimeter at the solenoid too. switch off, switch on, starter button activated, etc....something is going to ground or is short circuiting. it a start and just trying to help.

Thank you for the reply. And YES, I totally agree with you on LynnEdwards. Read and digested much of his posts. Very knowledgeable and Very helpful............... Battery tested at 13.3. Managed to replace fuse without it popping. Slight spark at starter relay. Battery side tested 13.3 as well. Nothing on other terminal post. Taillight worked when turned on. Brake light did not work when pedal was pressed. Nuetral, reverse and headlight does not come on. Alarm system does not work......Magneto began smoking so I guess it's the culprit, so I'm on to purchasing and replacing. Is this something a novice can do? Am considering a new wiring harness as well. Again, Thank you for the advice and any additional help the readers/members can provide. Hopefully I can get this thing back on the trails.

yes a novice can change those parts out. heck, i'm just a shadetree mech myself. get it under a shadetree and i'll tinker with it. anyways, make sure if you replace the wiring harness, you get the same kind that will fit your CDI. if i were you, buy from a taotao dealer and not a fly by night ebay seller unless the ebay seller is a taotao dealer. that way you can almost rest assured that you're gonna get exactly what you need. if you don't mind, PM Lynn and get his opinion and let him know of this thread. he may help you save some money with his knowledge.

I just bought a taotao and I am clueless on how to fix its problem. After getting this four wheeler home I could not get it to start. I realized that both of the 10A fuses were blown so I replaced them. The four wheeler started after that and ran for a few minutes before blowing the fuses again. I also realized that the key would not turn the four wheeler off and neither would the killswitch. ANY help would be wonderful!

killswitches: look in/behind the keyswitch to make sure the ground wire is connected adequately. trace out that wire to make sure it's all good. next, look at your CDI, uplug the quick connect, make sure the kill wire there is adequately plugged together. i.e. sometimes the little blades inside the quick connects will push back and not make good contact with either the male or female prongs inside.
