Polaris twin help
#1
Just purchased an 02 700 sportsman thats pretty clean (because the wife confiscated my 500H.O. LOL!) I have since done all the bushings and modified the radiator to the top of the front rack. My issue is that the bike cuts out sometimes after it heats up and will not start back up. Later after it cools down it starts no problem. I know it has to be a sensor or something electrical. Any ideas as to where to start? I even thought possibly coil? I have had that happen before on a jeep I owned. The bike runs great when it is running without smoke or any mechanical issue with tons of power; so I don't think it is anything internal or major.
Any help is appreciated.

Welcome! Look at all the posts in the Polaris section on early model(02-04) Polaris 600 and 700 ignition problems! The Ducati ignitions installed on these models would fail, some quickly others later. The replacement Kokusan ignition kit #2202602 is about $450 and includes the stator,flywheel,cdi,coil,reg/rectifier,jumper wires and instructions. These were not just isolated instances. You can have one do like yours when it gets hot,or backfire and die as many did or many people just simply killed the atv and it wouldn't start back up! You can get more answers to future questions by posting in the Polaris section! OPT
