New uknown ATV wont shut off w/o pulling plug
Hello all,
I just got a youth atv from my father for my boys. I can not find much identifying information about it. I know its a Chinese import with a loncin engine (LC147FMF).
It starts great but the problem is the shut off and the remote kill switch won't work. We have to pull the plug. I have looked at the wiring and there are several components electrical taped to the frame.
I was thinking I would just start the wiring over with a wiring harness.
I also was wondering if it had a governer by default or the best way to govern the speed until the boys learn to ride it.
Attached is a picture, any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

This eBay ad looks identical to the plastic body, still not sure how to order parts though.

I'm assuming your cdi is a 5 pin like this one. If so there should be a white wire with a black stripe comming out of it. The wire is suppose to go to the kill switch then from kill switch to ground. My bet is the remote quit working and the PO pulled this wire loose in order to make the bike run.
Touch the wire to ground and the bike will lose spark and die.
I have no real idea how the remote box actually functions (just know it's common for them to go out) or how the governor works.

governing the throttle: you should see a turnbuckle on the throttle cable in one of two places. it should be located up near the thumb throttle or down just before it reaches the slide on the carb. 2 nuts on a metal "collar" looking union. it may have a soft raised rubber boot covering it, but that is the adjusting turnbuckle. you can adjust that to help out on throttle control. the other method is that there at the thumb throttle, it should have a threaded bolt that can be adjusted in/out that physically stops the thumb throttle's length of travel/engagement/stroke.

Thanks Jaster, It didn't have a thumb screw and I didn't know about it being in line on the cable.
I found out a lot more about the atv; and have ordered almost all new electrical parts for it. The po did a job on the wiring, so im thinking about just getting a new wiring harness but Im not sure how to be 100% sure i'm getting the right one.
Also from the research I found a near exact visual match to a Loncin 70 cc engine, but the engine is stamped 86cm3, do they under/overestimate on cc's sometimes?
Im going to assume most of the 70cc and 90cc stuff are pretty close to the same.
