Default 2007 gio 110cc quad..no spark!! help

Hey everyone. I was recently given a 2007 110cc 4 stroke gio atv and it has no spark. It's been sitting a while but I was told it ran before. I disconnected the kill switch wire from the cdi and still have no spark. The rear kill switch (the one with the black cap) seems pretty crappy. Very hard and when I pull off the black cap I'm not certain it's not broken. Will unplugging it take that out of the picture? The other kill switch on the handle bar (which has a crank, no crank symbol) allows me to crank over the atv regardless of the position. I assume that removing the kill switch wire from the cdi plug will eliminate both of these?? I'd love any help you can give me in narrowing down this no spark issue. Thanks in advance everyone!
