Default Help with battery not holding a charge

Suzuki 2005 King Quad 700

After over a year of the dealer trying to fix my stalling problem. They thought they fixed it 3 times. I got Suzuki involved and they finally changed the throttle switch which did not show up as bad. That was the fix.

So I really don't want to bring it back to the dealer.

Just got it back with a pretty new battery and now it looses a charge very quickly. If I know what to look for I will fix it myself.

What should I be looking at?
Thanks
Bruce

To start off with does the battery receive around 13-14 volts or so while at an idle? If not could be a faulty regulator/rectifier.If it is charging the battery may have an open cell and may not be able to hold the charge. Simple way on this is to have the battery load tested. It can tell you real quick if the battery itself is the problem.

If I don't have any gauges to test output and I assume it is the alternator, is that an easy fix? How expensive is the alternator?
Thanks

Do you have any accessories that you have installed . I had one of these indicators installed and after a year of fighting to keep a charge on the battery and a new battery i finally figured this was the culprit. Did not think something that small would drain the battery in 2 days

it has a winch but has been ok. My friend will come by with his testers and see if I am drawing power or if I am just not recharging the battery. Thanks
