Ground the brown first and see if that helps. If it doesn't, ground the Gray white to it. On. Some older models hub grounds were Gray white. Look to see what color wires are coming from the awd coil.

Sorry was trying to use my phone earlier.. Brown/white is the awd ground. You can jump it to the brown wire if you still have the speedo connector harness and you should have ground.Or jump it to any other brown wire or good frame ground. This would bypass the awd ground going through the speedo if you had one. Gray is the power wire to the hub coils.

There is no browm an white wire coming from speedometer. There is a red an white a brown a gray an white a yellow an red and a gray.I think the brown is a ground .The gray goes to the hub coils .I read the somewhere a guy said the gray wire going to hubs are ground. If the gray is ground can I put brown an gray together an ground to frame.Don't what to fry anything.

Yep you're right when I looked on the wiring diagram. On the 2000 Expedition the brown/white didn't go through the speedo like most of the other models, but it is still the awd ground wire. Any loose brown/white needs to be grounded either to a group of browns or a good frame ground.Or you can do as many have done on the 500's and go straight from the hubs.
Gray wire does come out of the speedo connector and it has to have voltage to the hubs. On that you may have to jump it to the red/white(powered up with key on) from the connector and possibly use a toggle in between if you're not going to replace the speedo.
