How about some ideas on how to make fold up bunks, and or sources to buy pre-made bunk frames, hardware, etc.
Thanks , in advance, for your time, effort, and suggestions.

It may be cheaper to use cots... lol.. I was thinking of making some too for an enclosed trailer I am planning to make. It really helps to have access to a welder.... I was thinking of using 1 1/2" angle for the frame, say, 36" x 80" and maybe a couple cross pieces of 1" angle then use 3/8 or 1/2 plywood for the bottom. 2 or 3 legs would fold down for support. You'd also have to space them off the wall the thickness of the mattress so when folded up they would fold flat against the wall. Lets say 4" thick matress. Your brackets would have to be 4" out. You'd also have to figure out a latch to hold them in an upright position. I've read where some folks have used an air matress on the floor.

V10-- Yep I am thinking along those lines. I have access to TIG/Heliarc, so I will go with aluminum, I think. Thanx for your input!

A friend of mine put fold up beds in his fish house by taking old doors and bolting the hinges to the walls, then he used cables to hold the outside edges up, and had hinged boards to act as legs for backup in case the cables failed. Seemed to work fine for him.

TRX - What size trailer did you get?? (We've decided we need a bigger one now!) You know we just use the air-mattress. There isn't enough room for us to put the beds on the walls type of set-up, and then have both the quads in there too. Are you finishing it up like we did ours? (Mrs. Q)

Quad4Fun--- Haven't come up with a permanent solution yet. Prolly with go with a fold up aluminum frame. I'll make that this winter. Right now it will be the old air mattress!
Thanks for all your input folks.

My enclosed is a 6x12, with the typical side door. I turned the side door into a 2x5 closet....so there is a little bump out on the front right when looking inside from the back.

I installed a 2x4 ledger at about 50 inches off the deck all the way around the inside (high enough for the quads to roll under),,,and made slats of wood to fit in like a jigsaw,,,,and make a removeable shelf. I store all the extra stuff up there.

Anyhow,,,I often thought of putting another ledger at about 16 inches off the deck, to make the front portion of the trailer a bed. All I would have to do is drop the boards down to the lower ledger.
