Ditto, Quad Karen. It's just me and my two little girls, nobody hauling our butts around. I've got the truck, toys, and toy hauler....and I'm the one that pulls, backs, hooks up, and maintains all of it. Well....I take that back. My 11-year-old daughter helps me hook up, and she puts me directly under the tongue every time....in one shot. Then she starts cranking her down.

I think we may be the exception though, unfortunately. For the most part, I'm afraid women are a discredit to our race when it comes to automotive things. I think the majority of women have the mechanical aptitude of a deer. But it's usually because they don't have to know how to take care of things, someone else does it for them.

 

dunescreaminmama and quadkaryn... for the record, I was the only one that was supportive of the ladies and mentioned my and I wife have a good loading system down. Ya see, he usually launches these bombs and then I take the bullet for him later.

Yeah! Watch what ya say! I work at a marina, and you should see the men back up! LOL However, I've also seen women screw up too, but it doesn't mean I'm going to bash either one. Don't be such a chauvinist. I help load and unload as much as I can. Don't be a basher!

 

This stuff cracked me up. And I hate to be a traitor, but my wife and I do a partnered thing when hooking up and it works flawlessly. We've come to agree on the hand signals (fingers pointing left and right kind of stuff) and we hook up first time, every time. And so far, we've never banged up the truck (knock on plastic and metal). Wife stands out back with her thumb "at the ready". I back up, and she points in the direction she wants the BALL to go. I turn the wheel, and VIOLA. Ready to roll. Also, putting some "5th wheel grease" on the ball seems to make up for minor miscalculations. The hitch just slides on down.

Like my brother says, I can load my camper in 1 1/2 hours, or 20 minutes if the wife doesn't help.

My wife does a prety good job, but sometimes it is still easier by myself.
