Default Receiver Platform for Transporting ATV

Hi,

I was wondering if any one was using a receiver platform to support the end of their ATV when transporting the ATV in a truck bed. An example can be seen in the link below:
http://www.mosportsmen.com/forsale/atvcary.htm

I was not sure if the platform support will stand up to the load on rough roads and if people felt it was safe to use.

Thanks for your Advice!

Ken

By the way, thanks for all of the information everyone has posted in these forums. It has been a big help to me.

i see guys use them all the time, they stick out pretty far, so offroading the truck itself is not an option, they hold alot of weight and i seen them have more then 450 pounds on them, u should be fine, just strap the quad down and put on the parking brake and go.

The platform shouldn't have a problem holding the end of a quad. Considering people haul a whole quad on some platforms. (Class 3 hitch)

That thing is a pain because it would require you to run boards, plywood, or something else out to the extender. Not to mention the design and weight limit is considerably less than the typical "out back racks".

I seen one platform on I think ebay that actually had a complete quad holding fixture which was like an extender with two rails which the wheels fit in. looked kinda iffy. doesn't seem like your trailer hitch could hold that much weight or what about the welds on the extender platforms. I would feel more comfortable having my expensive investment sitting on a trailer or in the back of my Hemi powered Ram than on one of those shaky platforms.
