Hey guys I just happen to come across this topic while searching google for some Titan forums. If any of you are interested in the Titan come by my site and check out the gallery and talk to some people who own them. Lots of ATV guys on our forums. www.clubtitan.org

My dad owns a Titan King Cab LE and we love it. We've been averaging 17.5-18 MPG but have had as low as 13. The power is so addicting and fun. I sure notice a difference in milage when doing 100km/h instead of doing 110km/h. Kado, just a question, did you get a recall on the passenger seatbelts?
We have had a problem with the brakes to shuddering. Talked to the dealer and he said they were going to talk to Nissan about it. Other than that its an awesome truck. If you're in the market for a 1/2 ton take a look and a test drive in a Titan you might just love it

Our local Nissan dealer was on the "Titan is gonna be a BIG seller" bandwagon this past summer and wouldn't come off of sticker. I bought another Z71 x-cab. I do wonder, though, why , other than platforms, the 1/2 ton crews-other than dodge-put that shortened bed on. I know Chev/GMC and Ford have longer frames that would accomadate the crew cab and a bed that would allow closing the tailgate w/ a quad in it. I loved the Titan, but was a little put off by the short(er) box( plus the price gouging).

None of the manufacturers make a 1/2 ton crew cab with a full-size 6 1/2 bed. You have to go to a 3/4 ton to get a full bed. The Dodge is NOT a true crew cab.

I test drove one today to see what this puppy is all about. It had good power but the ride was choppier than expected. (yes, it's a 4X4)
I have some concerns that the brakes weren't up to the task. I drove it down a couple of larger hills and wasn't impressed by the braking. If towing a lot with this truck, I will wager a bet that you will be having braking issues. Warped rotors, brake fade, etc.
Just my two cents...............

GM hasnt had a good set of brakes on a truck for longer than I can remember. They cant be much worse.
BTW, We're on our 3rd sierra and had a half dozen c/k's in the family so I'm not bashing anything.

Actually, after years of crappy brake systems, GM has finally got it right. I'm on my third GM 3/4 ton truck. Had a '94, a '96 and now an '02. The first two were drum/disc, rear/front. Poor braking and made god-awful knocking sounds whenever the anti-lock kicked in. On top of all that, you had to plan on new front pads every 18K miles on the 3/4 tons.
The current design uses discs all around. There's a proportionate braking system that distributes the braking load from front to rear and cuts down on nose dive. Anti-lock works fine - none of the frantic, "Where did my brakes go" for a second or two like the older trucks. Best of all, with 65,000 miles on mine, it still has about 3/4 of the brake pads left. This is on a truck that always carries a minimum 1,500 pound load and often pulls trailers. I do have the Allison transmission which has an engine brake mode, but I only use that when trailering or decending steep hills.
All in all I think GM finally figured it out. Now if they could only design a decent set of side mirrors.

Sorry Jay, I just dont agree. GM's brakes got a little better, but thier 4 disc setup is still below par for the course. We personally are on our 3rd sierra, as I said. 2000, 2002, and 2004 1/2 tons. Brakes are soft, better than our 94 c1500 and worse than our 97 c2500. Brakes werent all that great on our 98 K1500 either, somewhere between the 94 and 97. Of course, heavy duty pickups typically have better braking than light duty trucks.
Regarding the most recent generation of truck, the heavy duty gm models are noticeably better than their light duty counterparts. However, they still do not stack up to the 2000 and up super duty. I have not had the opportunity to spend any meaningful time in the new dodge heavy duty trucks, so I cannot compare.
However, we are comparing 1/2 ton trucks here, as nissan does not make a heavy duty line. Regardless of GM's showing in higher gvwr vehicles, their 1/2 ton truck brakes are certainly not up to snuff.

It must be the difference between the 1/2 ton line and the HD trucks Maddog. I have almost no time in a regular 1/2 ton, although I can tell a big difference in braking power when I drive my brothers '99 Tahoe. All I know is that I work my 3/4 ton pretty hard - as I said before it's always loaded with 3/4 of a ton of ladder rack, tool boxes and tools and Ioften pull trailers weighing several tons. Never had any brake issues and when I had the shop check the brakes out a while back they told me to bring it back at 80K miles - maybe it will need it's first brake job then. I drive in a fairly hilly East Tennessee and have never been accused of driving too slow . I just can't argue with that kind of performance, especially when I compare it to the pre-2000 models.
I understand that GM will do a major redesign for 2006, maybe the 1/2 tons will get better then.
