while reading my latest atv sport mag. I looked at their review of the titan and came away shaking my head. They said they averaged 7MPG on a 3200 mi. trip, they didn't say if all those miles were loaded or not. Even if they were 100% towing miles that is terrible, so much for all the hype. They were only pulling 7700 lbs of trailer, what would happen with the rated 9500 lbs, 6 MPG? Fully loaded at @ 80,000 my dad's International eagle with a reefer trailer would pull 6-7 MPG to the east coast and back! NOBODY will talk me into another gas engine in a pickup again, the WORST I get with my cc drw 4x4 auto f-350 has been 12 MPG, and I was scaling about 19,000 LBS. With fuel getting more expensive every day, its much cheaper to use my diesel than ever. I also looked up prices on edmunds and a well equiped titan will run @34000, not cheap either

Hmmm. A truck review in an ATV magazine doesn't hold much water. Especially when you can't even trust their ATV reviews. If your looking for reliable review on a truck such as a Titan I would recommend sticking to the Auto/Truck mags.

7700lbs is actually a lot of weight for a 1/2 ton truck. You shouldn't pull at maximum tow rating of any truck for that matter. General rule of thumb is not to exceed 80% of maximum tow weight.

7700 is pretty much max what that truck can pull. I calculated it out and with what Nissan says the truck can pull there's only 70lbs left over for the driver if you figure a 10% hitch weight. You end up over on the trucks GVWR.

I own one and it is a great truck. Don't believe what the ATV mag tells you. With the standard tow package it can tow 6500 lbs. To tow 9500 lbs, it has to be specially equipped as does the Ford F-150/

My truck is well equipped 4x4 Crew Cab, with big tow package and off road package was only $28,000. Not sure where the $34,000 price tag is coming from.

They probably added on to the real price the amount the Big 3 paid them to bash the Titan.....

It depends on where they are located. If they bought from somewhere in California, they are probably going to pay more. First year trucks here RARELY go for MSRP. Usually the dealers tag on $2,000K or more as people will pay it. I have no idea what the article said, other than what has been posted here, but it should list the MSRP and then the total price. You'd have to look at the actual window sticker to see what options, plus the dealer mark-up tag. Usually the mags get the vehicles they are testing fully optioned out. Afterall, the automakers want their vehicles to look the best with all of the best features.

Like I said 34,000 was out of edmunds, fully equiped, and my point is they can't live up to the hype. Black andredwarrior has put out the numbers to show you how skewed the factory has gone to put the towing numbers up into the useable range. I sure hope that no-one buys one of these and expects to pull the factory ratings, at least on the same highway as me. Cheapass if you look at the magazine they are VERY dependant on japanese corpoate ads, Honda, Toyota, and ect. do make good vehicles, but they are really not the answer to everyone's dream vehicle, just as the big three are not.

One article that had the Titan in it was atv sport. They took it out, pulling a toy trailer. Even though it got them, to where they wanted to go. They got like 9 mpg and said the job was better suited for a 3/4 ton, diesel. I can't find the magazine to be more specificBut, that's the jest of it.

I've got a Titan and love the thing! titantalk guys can give you the rundown.

I do wish the Crew Cab would haul my Grizzly with the tailgate up but Titan put more room in the cab and its layout and roomyness is awsome and holds my bow or rifle under the back seat with room to spare. The power is addictive and most guys getting the bad mileage can't keep their foot off the floor. I test drove them all and didn't want to like the Nissan at first because I wasn't so sure of the new look but after the test drive there was no equal in power and the 5 speed transmissions feels and sounds incredible. Check one out guys you'll be impressed.
