Ball mount drop

That requires a little more info. Are you talking about pulling a trailer WITH a quad? Or pulling a trailer with a quad ON it? Of course it would all depend no matter what you are doing based on the trailer and the receiver itself.
"To the point that the trailer sits level" would be the canned stock answer.

Truck hitch to 5x8 quad trailer.
If you picture the top inside area of a truck hitch. My hitch measures 21" to the top inside area from the ground. (where the ball mount would slide in) My trailer is about 11" at the bottom edge of the coupler to the ground. (I checked the hitch height on a paved surface. I checked the trailer coupler height on grass. The trailer measurement MIGHT be off a little.)
I THINK I need at least a 6" drop. So, I'm just curious what everyone else has been using? Does the trailer tip up at all without a load on it?

That would be a 10" drop. IIRC, the drop is measure from the top of the draw bar (2" tubing portion that goes into the receiver) to the top of the flange that the ball is mounted to. The rise is the opposite. IIRC a 6" drop flipped is a 2" rise. Or maybe it's 6/2-1/2. So you take your receiver height and dubtract your coupler height.
That would put your trailer even, maybe slighting low. That would depend on how your tongue weight effects the tow vehicle (rear end sag). An 8 would put the tongue slightly high w/o any sag.

I ended up buying a Master Lock adjustable ball mount.
The drop isn't spot on but it'll work.
Does anyone else own one of these Master Lock ball mounts? How has it been working? I haven't used mine yet because I have to extend the chain lengths on the trailer.
