Default Hemi vs Titan for towing..

The titan is butt ugly and the hemi gets some horrible gasmileage and the trannys arn't all that great for dodge unless your getting a brand new one. If i were you id move up to a 3/4 ton diesel Ford of course. No gas motor tows worth a crap unless its a V10 or chevys big 8.1..... The 6.0 is decent from what i hear.

The only way i think you'll be satified towing is with a diesel.

He's already stated in his first post that he's not interested in ford or chevy ..

Sandgod just FYI I had a truck identical to your Ford, and bolted on a 6 lb Powerdyne blower for $2500. Did it myself over a weekend. It pulled my 22' 5th wheel and sled trailer with 4 quads all hooked together (serious gvw) at just about any speed I wanted. Plus empty it was a hoot to drive.

One other thing is your truck lifted or got bigger tires?????? What gears do you have? It might even been cheaper just to put 4.10's in the rear and front if its 4X4 than it is to buy a new truck if all you want is to pull better. Which 4700lbs trailer shouldn't be all that bad behind a 5.4, I crap you not i pulled 12,000lbs trailer and load it was a 24ft pintle hitch I pulled it for about 6 miles. Although i didn't go above 45 it pulled it pretty darn well. So don't think 4700 would phase it. Are you trying to do it in overdrive or out of over drive?

Ok, I can't see why you are spending your money to get the same thing you already have. Your half ton truck doesn't tow well enough, so you are getting another half ton truck, ... why? I don't think either the Dodge Hemi or Titan are going to be enough better than what you have to make it worth your money. So like I said before, you should be driving a 3/4 ton Dodge.

As a dodge Hemi owner I can tell you that I have no complaints when it comes to the power. My set up is a ¾-ton quad cab long box with a 4 1/2' lift and 35" tires.... I typically tow a 21-foot comp ski boat and have never, required more power (incredible cooling system on this truck!)

I don't think 4700 should be hurting the half ton but i think if he just regeared it would be better than buying a new truck........ Mileage with suffer thou....

Diesel is the only way you'll be happy TRUST ME.

I must agree that a diesel is the way to go for pulling or towing but in my case I might tow a total of 2000 miles a year and the remaining 12,000 I use the truck for basic transportation. I can't see going with a noisy diesel for basic transportation and occasional towing. In my situation the Hemi was the way to go.
