Default Bad fuel milage on a Duramax

What most people either don't know or choose to ignore, is that the "chips" used on these diesels for extra performance, many of them interfere with the computer's information. Like my Duramax, with the Edge Juice module I run, the mpg readout on the dash says I'm getting this great fuel mileage, when I'm not. It's because the signal is intercepted downrange of what the computer thinks is happening, and the fuel injection is monkeyed with. The computer "thinks" the engine is getting "x" for fuel when it's really "y" so to speak.

Anyhoo, don't trust your dashboard mileage readout after putting a chip in. Do it the old fashioned way and count miles and gallons. I think this is where some of these guys are getting the fallatious "I'm gettin' 22 mpg pulling this whole trailer at 75!"

Couldnt help you with the 6.0 DSengineer.

I have the 7.3 and couldnt be happier or agree more about the chip thing. Cant rely on the trucks mpg estimate as it is always wrong.

Hey all the diesels are good trucks. Just passing on what my Checy buddies are complaining about.

Dont take this wrong .............but shoulda bought a FORD. Chevy's get notoriously bad mileage. I have some buddies who are diehard chevy guys and all they complain about is the mileage. My Ford 4x4 f350 dually gets 19 in town.
All of the current diesels are within a mile or two of each other but worse than previous generation. Ford's 6.0 however is notorious for always being in the service bay at your local Ford dealer. Ford already has plans to drop the 6.0 by 2007 model year. I wonder why????
Yeah I heard it was a 6.4L in the new 07 Ford.

2003 Chevy HD2500 Duramax 6.6 with Allison. Empty driving around Baltimore and DC area with stop and go and 65-70 mph = 17 mpg, towing to Hatfield with covered snowmobile trailer with 3 quads = 13 mpg. I can get 18.5 mpg if I baby it at stay at or under 65.

07' for ford is suppose to be a 6.4 twin turbo, one VGT turbo and one normal turbo. Once we get into twin turbos i don't know what kind of power these trucks will be able to put out with chips. Out of the factory twin turbos won't be making much more power than previous years with only one trubo. the EPA is making it tough for diesels, but at the same time is trying to encourage diesels in all vehicles.

I read a deal that by 2020 if we have a 20percent increase in deisel vehicles that it will save us 350,000 barrels of oil a day over gas engines. As hard as there making it for diesels to pass i don't know how they think manufactures will be able to do it.
