Nothing but bad news for Ford. Navistar really put the schmaaack down on Ford. Someone had to blink, but Navistar just pulled out a gun and shot Ford in the jewels.

Could Cat be the only company that could save Ford? Ford better start kissing some serious Cat butt.
This move could have world wide implications.

After seeing how this played out for international (law suits, reputation) I doubt it would be easy to attract another big engine builder like Cat...

Not what I would call great news if I worked at Navistar. The article says Ford makes up for 3/4 of their sales. Can't think of too many companies that can lose 75% of their business and not have to make some cuts somewhere.

Well, so much for that idea. I want a new diesel truck, but don't care for what I hear about the new GM emissions system. Had thought about switching to a Ford F-450 instead of GM, ... but not now.

I disagree, Navistar is the one that is going to be hurting more. They built an unreliable engine for ford, and the agreement was that navistar has to pay 1/2 of the warranty claims. And they were not. And now ford is suing them for 1 billion i think. So navistar stop giving them engines but ford has thousands of their engines in stock just waiting to be put in trucks. Navistar is the one thats going to be in a huge hole when its all said and done

I've never really been a big fan of the 6.4 liter powerjoke engine anyway.

The engine that causes all the problems was the older one that was used before the new 6.4. I think i was a 6.2 but im not sure on that. It performed very well but was crap when it came to reliability.
