It's my understanding that a chip in a gas truck will not have anywhere near the same outcome as a chip in a diesel. My grandpas V-10 dodge gets 8mpg whether he is towing or not....seems to me that a V-10 is pointless nowdays. We have diesels!!!!

I get 18mpg on the highway.

All in all I range from 0 to 18 mpg's, it depends on how I drive it.

Gas engine chips don't do that much for power. For a gas engine to make power you need air and the more the better. So the chips can play with things like timing and fan kick on temps and minor stuff like that.

The diesel chip on the other hand can play with things like timing, boost pressure, and the big one...FUEL. A diesel has no throttle plate like a gas engine. They are throttled by fuel, only.

It's a simple formula, the more fuel you give a diesel the more power you make. They will keep on making power until they hydro or blow up or burn up. That is why you see boxes on diesels making 50, 100, 150, 200 more HP. By just adding a box!!!!!!!

The down side it, as always, when you add fuel, you fuel gauge goes down faster. But, power for power, weight for weight, a diesel will typically get around 25% better mileage than a gasoline engine.

If you want big power, get a diesel.

Most Dodge Cummins get better mileage with a fuel box(chip). If you are gonna add 100 or more hp box, you better add more air. And gauges, EGT, Boost. Diesels are the only way to go with better MPG, power, and relability. I get 20mpg, with a 2500 Cummins 4x4 auto, 4:10 gears, 120hp fuel box, 65 hp programmer, 120hp injectors. Oh and I can easily smoke mustangs, gto's and such. Towing I still get 15 mpg or so.
