I think it's a class 3 hitch on the back of my 4runner...supposedly 500lbs of tongue weight...seems conservative. I haven't loaded it up yet w/ the atv as it's still winter out here. I'll throw the atv on in a few months and see how it looks. We also carry about 300lbs of dogs in the back area of the suv...not sure if that will add to the sag or not, probably so. Last year, w/out the atv, it did sag w/ the three dogs and the camper, but not horribly...not so much that I was worried. I'll have to see what happens when i toss the 600 lb atv on the rack. My 4runner can tow 7300 lbs...the camper weighs about 3500, so my only issue is sag/tongue weight. My neighbor bought the exact same pop up I have, he has a toyota tacoma...he added air bags, not sure if that was out of necessity or not.

Get the WDH, the quad up front will add a lot of wieght to the tongue. I posted about my toy hauler that fits two quads up front, the difference in wieght up front with the quads on is big. Without the quads my Silvarado 2500 didn't drop at all, with the quads the WDH really comes into play. I could pull without it, but it sure is much nicer moving some of the wieght of the tongue.

I won't argue the usefulness of the WDH, and if you need it, they come in handy. I don't know much about the weight distribution on the trailer in quesiton ,however I suspect with all that weight of the camper hanging out back, it would make for a light tongue weight if you DIDN"T have ATV's up front. I would hope they kept that in mind when designing it.
My problem with the WDH is that is it is so labor intensive to get on and off. Your's may be easier than mine, but I have to haul a jack, blocks of wood etc just to be able to get it on and adjusted properly. I have to use one, and do not unhook once I have it ready to go unless I absolutely have to. Luckily I have a vehicle that is purposed just for the trailer, so I don't have to use it for anything else. I'd rather not mess with it if I didn't have to. (See my trailer pics) at 11 ft high, it catches a lot of wind...
One other thing too, is that when using a WDH, it will legally raise your combined GVWR. For those of you that are close or slightly overweight, it may be an option to make you legal...

don't think a WDH is needed with the Evolution with the proper truck to tow it with. i went to the website and got some specs about the weights and deck sizes between the E3 and E4.
E3
12' class
gross vehicle weight- 4400 lbs
unloaded vehicle weight-2965lbs.
unloaded tounge weight-395lbs
front deck cap.-800lbs
front deck size-4'5"x7'
height closed-5'3"
E4
14' class
gross vehicle weight-7000lbs
unloaded vehicle weight-3995lbs
unloaded tounge weight-345lbs
front deck cap.-1600lbs
front deck size-7'1"x8'4"
height closed-6'
the E3 would be better suited for mid size trucks with a quad or a couple of bikes. the E4 would need a full size truck. with the deck of that size 2 quads should fit easily. one resason i like the Evolution is it's a pop up so the towing profile is smaller. less wind resistance and influence. it comes with its own loading ramps so less gear to pack on it. it fits a nice little niche.

I noticed on the Evolution there is no gray or black water tank. I guess the toilet could be a self contained cassette, but where does the shower and sink water go? Never had a pull up so just wondering. It would be nice pulling without pushing wind. I pulled mine through a 50 mph head wind......got 7 mpg

As far as the WDH on a E3 are concerned, I've used one on mine for the last two trips (approx. 2 1/2hr one way) The difference is remarkable. My better half even remarked how much better it handled (she's the hard one to convince when it comes to spending money on the "toys"). I pull my E3 with a 2002 Ford Expedition XLT. Without the WDH there was a considerable drop in the rear of my vehicle (approx. 3"). Although it pulled the popup fine without it, I would suggest to anyone who was considering a WDH to go ahead and get one, its well worth the extra effort in hitching up. I sent an email to palomino, maker of the banshee. Very similar trailer to the evolution, almost the exact same settup up front. I asked what percentage of the weight added to the front rack would be distributed to the hitch, i.e., tongue weight. They responded by saying that if I put a 600 lb atv on the rack it will add 600lbs worth of tongue weight. That simply doesn't make sense. The rack is a good 4 feet from the hitch itself, propane tanks and other cross members before actually reaching the hitch. According to Palomino, the tongue weight, unloaded is almost 400lbs, so we are looking at 1000lbs + worth of tongue weight on a pop up camper, and that doesn't include any other gear that may be taken along. Doesn't seem right. Almost renders that front rack worthless.
Any thoughts??
